Applying Blue-Green Infrastructure in an Industrial Zone

Scope

Canals, streams and lakes within the IPs are supposed to store, regulate, circulate treated wastewater by pumps or gravity. The idea is to keep stormwater and treated wastewater longer and mobile inside the IPs in order to improve the surface water quality and beautify the waterbodies. This includes the application of cost-saving Nature-based Solutions (NBS), the reuse of rainwater and treated water for industrial and operational purposes (“Circular Economy”), the rehabilitation of biodiversity, and the general beautification of the area by means of Blue-Green-Infrastructure. Moreover, this approach avoids flooding downstream in neighboring villages.

The study- and conceptual phase was carried out by WSS, from basic data collection and research through planning and engineering of blue-green solutions all over the industrial zone.
