Moerman Park

The Moerman parking lot is transformed into a climate-adaptive park that invites social interaction, play, and sports. By depaving, it becomes a cooling green-blue lung connected to the Ronde Kom and Kleine Bassin near the city center. The design is guided by four principles: creating an ecological hotspot for urban biodiversity; restoring the historic Sint-Amandsbeek bed as a sponge to absorb rainwater and resist drought; shaping the terrain with minimal earthworks for a natural landscape; and designing a welcoming, people-oriented park for all ages.
